SCHOLARSHIPS 2012-2013

TN LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIPS

HOPE: For students with a 21 ACT or a 3.0 final GPA. $2000 for a 2 yr school and $4000 for a 4 yr school.

GAMS: For students with a 3.75 weighted GPA and a 29+ ACT. An extra $1000 in addition to HOPE.

ASPIRE: For students who meet HOPE criteria and have a family adjusted income of $36,000 or less. An extra $1500.

TN HOPE ACCESS GRANT: One time $2750 award for freshmen with a 2.75 to 2.99 GPA and an 18-20 ACT, and parent adjusted gross income of $36,000 or less.

ALL REQUIRE FILLING OUT THE FAFSA FORM (beginning January 1). Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov  for more information.  It's best to fill out the FAFSA by February 1.

 TN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Roane State Community College Foundation scholarship. Deadline April 21. Two CHS students will receive $500 or a new IPad if they have a 2.5 GPA and apply by the deadline. Go to https://roanestate.academicworks.com and scroll to find the "James D. Christmas" scholarship. Click that link to apply. Requires a letter of recommendation from your counselor, and you must know your Roane State Raider net username or password. 

Carson Newman (Jefferson City) Several scholarships based on ACT and GPA. Go to www.cn.edu

ETSU (Johnson City)  Go to www.etsu.edu/scholarships. Application deadlines vary. ETSU Dr. Thomas Jenrette Vocal Scholarship Competition: $15,000 for a first year voice major in music performance or education.  Go to www.etsu.edu/music and go to Admissions and scholarships to set up audition.

ETSU Balanced Man Scholarship (Deadline May 23) $1000 and $500 for males attending ETSU. See Ms. Tuskan for application.

NEW: Blacks in Government scholarship $500. (Deadline May 3) Open to all students. One scholarship is for academic excellence and the other for financial need. Applications in the counseling office.

NEW: United Church Scholarship (Deadline: May 1) One $1000 scholarship for an Anderson Co. student with family income less than $50,000.  Requires essay, letter of recommendation, and photo. NEW: Anderson Co. Cattlemans Assoc. Scholarship (Deadline April 15) One $1000 scholarship for a student involved in Anderson Co. 4-H and/or FFA.  Must major in an agricultural related area in college.  Applications in the counseling office.

  Drivers Permit Form Information

Sign-ups and Pick-ups: Students (not parents) are required to sign up for a Drivers Permit or Drivers Reinstatement Form.  Students can sign up before school, during lunch and after school.  Students can return in 2 days to pick up the form during the same allotted times.  The permit form expires in 30 days.  The first form that you request is free; each additional form is $3. 

Eligibility: Students must be passing 3 out of 4 of their classes on the last nine week grading period and on their Semester 2 and Semester 4 report cards. Students must also have no more than 10 consecutive unexcused absences or 15 total unexcused absences in a single semester.

 

 

 Formula for determining Top Ten

This is to inform you of  a revision to the class ranking policy #4.602 made by the Anderson County School Board on May 12, 2011.

For the class of 2012 and beyond, the formula for determining the class rank of our top students with cumulative GPAs of 3.8+ at the end of the 7th semester  will be calculated as follows: 

GPA=35%,  strength of schedule=35%, ACT composite score =30%.
